How SecondBody Quickly Launched Reseller Billing with Maple
We have been working closely with the team at SecondBody, a skills-building platform designed to help employees master the nuances of high-stakes conversations — from sales calls, to customer success, to interviews, to delivering feedback as a manager.
Through a quick integration with Maple, SecondBody transitioned from Stripe to enable reseller-based billing with Maple. The reseller-model enables other sellers to help promote SecondBody yet have attribution for those subscriptions bring revenue to the resellers.
Challenge
SecondBody initially started off with a sales-led motion and then quickly leveraged a reseller model for growth. With this model, established sellers could benefit from a broader distribution of their training content on the SecondBody platform. This would have required SecondBody's engineering team to build a system to track attribution for subscriptions brought in by each reseller and knowing which payments actually succeeded for accurate reseller compensation.
Recognizing the importance of flexibility, SecondBody also aimed to support future iterations of their pricing plans and sales motions. They intended to explore a self-serve model along with their existing reseller and sales-led model.
Solution
Recognizing the challenge, SecondBody leveraged Maple's Stripe continuous sync mechanism to quickly import their existing self-serve customers and plans into Maple. They also leveraged the Pipedrive integration to import their sales-led deals. They then integrated with Maple's Checkout API to enable reseller checkout sessions along with leveraging the parent-child capabilities to clearly attribute reseller subscriptions and invoices.
Results
Through this partnership with Maple, SecondBody quickly launched their new reseller motion and started scaling their subscriptions.
